We love eating outside in the fall.  The summer is nice, but sometimes the bees, and the heat here in the northeast, doesn’t make a comfortable dining experience.  Fall is our fav, even if we need a hoodie or sweater it is the best to breath that fresh air while enjoying dinner time with friends or family.

Setting a table doesn’t need to be a huge ordeal, in-fact with a house full of teenagers and a pre-schooler, I don’t have time to make some fancy table that will take me a long time to set up.  I took some of the decor off our dining room table to create a picnic for four of us.  Lucca helped by setting up the silverware, so it isn’t the formal silverware placing, but we aren’t formal!

First, I like my table to have some texture, so  I added the burlap table runner down the center to break up the wood.  Then I added the vase of flowers from my gardens in the center.  Next, I just started playing around with 3 candle holders, with just white pillar candles.  I always use odd numbers when it comes to decorating, and planting in my gardens and containers.  No real reason, I just prefer 3 or 5 of things.  I put two on one side and one on the other side of the vase.  Next, I added three of the bigger faux white pumpkins.  I just messed around with their placement, until I liked it.

Not sure if I am the only one, but I often mix faux with real.  To me, it makes it look like they are all real, haha!  Now, this only works with the faux that are on the edge of being real or faux, like these white pumpkins.  I added some real little pumpkins here and there, and that was it for the center piece.

I kept the place settings super simple:  a melamine plate, with a napkin placed in the center, with these little leaf appetizer plates that I have. I didn’t use chargers or placemats, very casual.  Lucca (our 3 year old) added the silverware and we were ready for dinner!

It didn’t take long at all to set this up and it really adds to just a simple family dinner at the picnic table.

Some staple items to keep on hand for any season: neutral candlesticks, neutral runners, or placemats, vases to add faux or real flowers to (or both in my case).  I use these melamine plates all year, since they are neutral, look like pottery and they won’t break.  If you have those staple items, it makes all tablescapes even easier.  For this, I just had to add the pumpkins and flowers to make it an early fall tablescape.

I hope this gave you some inspiration to make a fall tablescape for your special people, or even yourself.

Everyone likes a pretty table 🙂
