Hi Guys!  Thanks for stopping by 🙂  One of my favorite things to decorate is the front porch.  Not only because we pass through it every time we leave and return back home, but it just finalizes the changing of the seasons, for me anyway!  I may add pops of decor for certain holidays, but I don’t do an actual overhaul of everything unless it is a new season.  Does that make sense?  Here’s an example,  I have the porch decorated for Spring right now, but in a week or so, I will add pops of Easter decor out there.  Same in the Fall, I have the fall decor set around the middle of September (depending on the weather) and then around the middle of October, I will add some fun Halloween stuff, and then the same when Thanksgiving is closer.

Anyway…back to the Spring porch

I think it is important to keep things balanced, however it isn’t always symmetrical, and I don’t think it has to be.  I always have a door mat to warm up the space and also because we need a place to wipe off our feet.   I also have a wreath on the door for each season, and sometimes even switch them out halfway through, just to keep things fresh.

We have two milk boxes, because our weekly delivery won’t fit in one (teenage and toddler Mom problems, haha!) Right now, they flank the front door, but not always.  This winter, two were on one side and the other side had a container of greenery.

To the left of our door, I usually have some seating (sometimes a bench) but my oldest made me an chair at school, so it is displayed for all to see!  Proud Mommy Moment (the one on the left).

Then I placed a potting table centered on the window.

As we come up the stairs, I like to have decor flanked on each side of the entryway.

The flower container (that the pillow and blanket are in) is a staple in that spot, for the last year away.  I had flowers in it for the summer, fall and then a tree for the winter.  In the Northeast it is still too cold for plants, but in a few weeks, I will have pansies in there!  I CAN NOT WAIT!!

Even made our 2018 Holiday Card 🙂

2018 Fall porch, with the same container, just rotated around to see the letters!

And the same container in the same spot for summer.

Having a staple item on your porch can carry you from one season to the next.  You will see those same lanterns also out there for most of the seasons.  But switching them around, helps keep it fresh!

Let’s get back to Spring:

I have some faux forthysia stems in a little terra-cotta pot sitting by the house my Dad made for me and some sticking out from under the pillow.  More forthysia on the potting bench and the little magnet on our mailbox.  It adds some spring color, but also ties all those areas together.

I found the “It’s a good day for a good day” sign in the dollar spot at Target. SCORE!

I try to keep this area of the porch cleared of boots, toys, horse gear, snow pants (yup still in Spring) which works out to keep the entrance of our home looking inviting.

The other side usually has some sort of seating area (you can see the bench is on the right side right now) but the rest is used for storage of bikes, sidewalk chalk, horse trunk (which has saddle pads, grooming gear, etc) and the stroller.  I don’t love that those items are out on the front porch, but we don’t have a garage so we gotta do what we gotta do!

Thanks for stopping by to read the blog, I really appreciate each and everyone of you!  I hope something grabbed your eye or inspired you to get your entrance ready for Spring!  Let me know what you think in the comments!

XOXOX
