Decorating the Living Room Wall

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by Our Home Days 😍. Today we are going to chat about the living room wall that had me tricked out some, so grab your drink of choice and lets dive right in!

After painting our living room (it was chocolate brown, now a light grey), I started collecting things to create a gallery wall.

I wanted it to go right where those hanging photos are:

It has been blank since we finished painting:

I thought I wanted a bunch of some smaller things. So I found a wooden letter M on Etsy (for our last name), ordered that. I found a metal “gather” sign while out “junkin” and scooped that up. I ordered these flower prints on etsy. As they all came in, I was so excited to get this going! Never had a plan in mind, figured I would lay it out on the floor, maybe add something like these metal things that I have in the basement, paint them white, put some faux flowers or twigs in them 🤔

Wellll…. guys no matter how I laid it out on the floor, I didn’t like it. It was TOO busy with all the little items, so I dug out these hanging canvas prints I had made up from Smallwoods of my kiddos and I started messing around with them.

It is funny how things don’t always work out the way you plan, but I ended up shopping around my OWN HOUSE and used the “gather” sign, and I really simplified it. I LOVE how it turned out!

I am in that “simplified” stage right now, so maybe that is it? Whatever it is, walking in and seeing my people smiling at me on the wall, makes my heart happy, and it just feels like home ❤️.

We really gather around here, so that fits perfect as well.

I have one of my oldest hanging on the other side of the door opening. I just need to order a new one, because his isn’t as zoomed in as these two are. I need to take a new photo and get it ordered. The current one is a full body shot, where the other two are upper body. Anyway, I will get to that, and show you guys when it arrives.

On our list for this room:

New door handle, and something with the door, sand and stain, paint, something… And a new ceiling light fixture and different lamp. I am happy with the lighter walls. I took the corner section of our sectional out, put that baby on the side of the road and that heavy sucker was gone within an hour. Feels so much bigger. I would love a new couch, but if I want to build a house on our new property, I can’t be spending on big things. So we will wait until getting into the new house for that. Plus our 3 year old will be a little older, which will help with a new couch.

I am not kidding as I was typing this, he brought me hot chocolate, took off his helmet and licked the couch?? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️, why on earth? He said “that okay Mommy, you clean it a lot” WHAT.. I should write a book with all the things I would have never thought I would have to say to my children, “no, honey, we don’t lick the couch” WT?
